Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has appointed Prince Yinusa Akadiri of Oba-Ara Ruling House as the new Akinrun of Ikirun.
The Nation reported that the new monarch is the first in twenty months at the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government Area of the State.
The seat of Akinrun fell vacant on February 8, 2021, following the death of Oba Rauf Olawale Adedeji, who ascended to the royal throne in 1991.
The appointment was confirmed by the State’s commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode on Wednesday after Wednesday’s State Executive Council meeting.
She said that Akadiri’s ascent followed a gathering of Ikirun kingmakers on November 19, 2021, where he received six out of seven votes, defeating 17 other candidates.
Egbemode also announced the appointment of nine additional monarchs in the state, one of whom is Prince Adefemi Mutalib Adelakin, who will serve as Alabere of Abere.f Abere.
