Sultan, Ooni, others to attend Enugu unity summit
The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Mohammadu Sa’ad Abubakar and the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi will join other monarchs as royal fathers of the day as Southeast governors will lead notable Nigerian patriots and advocates for a greater Nigeria to attend the second edition of ‘Handshake Across Nigeria” summit in Enugu, Enugu State capital on Friday.
The five Southeast governors will be led by their Chairman, David Umahi of Ebonyi State.
The event which will be co-chaired by elder statesman and Chairman, Elders Council of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, and Prof. James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, Tor Tiv was organized by leading Igbo Think Tank, Nzuko Umunna.
Prominent among other personalities to attend the event are leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum , Chief Edwin Clark, his Afenifere counterpart, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, President, Middle Belt Forum, Dr. Pogu Bitrus and Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Amb. Okey Emuchay.
A statement by the Chairman, Nzuko Umunna Handshake Across Nigeria Planning Committee, Nze Ozichukwu Chukwu, stressed that a legal luminary, Chief Mike Ozekhome, SAN, will deliver a keynote address on the theme: “Building bridges for a new Nigeria,”.
The guest speakers are Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed, spokesman for Northern Elders Forum, Dr. Regina Amadi Njoku, Sen. Shehu Sani and Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Ona Kakanfo of the Yoruba Nation.
The statement said the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ adu Abubakar; Amb. Igwe Lawrence Agubuzu, Chairman South East Council of Traditional Rulers; Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ooni of Ife; and Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe, Obi of Onitsha are royal fathers of the day.
The organisers said the “Handshake Across Nigeria” project is dedicated to expanding friendship and sealed relationship between Ndigbo and other nationalities in Nigeria.
