Subsidy: Abia Bishop advises fathers on financial prudence
The Anglican Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Abia State, Rt Rev Geoffrey Ibeabuchi has called on fathers and the breadwinners of homes, to be prudent in management of their income and spend only on essential needs of their families in order to palliate the effect of the fuel subsidy removal on them
The cleric made this call in a message he delivered to Anglican faithful during the celebration of this year’s Fathers’ Sunday in Umuahia Diocese.
Bishop Ibeabuchi explained that the fuel subsidy removal by the Tinubu’s administration has adversely impacted Nigerians, advising that no father or breadwinner of a family should neglect the needs of their family because of the situation.
While commending father’s for their contributions to the development of the Church and the Nigerian society, the cleric equally appreciated their wives and children for their support.
Thanking God for preserving Nigerians in the face of socio-economic problems, Bishop Ibeabuchi said, “In this dispensation of removal of fuel subsidy and its attendant hardship and stress, we encourage breadwinners and fathers to remain resolute, be prudent in the management of their resources and spend only on essential commodities.
“However, no man is allowed to neglect his family no matter the situation. God will help us and strengthen us in Jesus name.”
The cleric then bemoaned the spate of Nigerian youths moving abroad for greener pastures, observing that most of the youths would have loved to stay in Nigeria and contribute to the nation if things were put in order by the leaders.
