The Osemawe of the Ondo kingdom in Ondo State, Oba Victor Kiladejo, has urged old students to give their alma mater a facelift by embarking on laudable projects that would remodel the school and also help the impoverished pupils.
The Ondo monarch noted that remodelling the school would assist the efforts of the government on the modernization of the education sector in the country.
Oba Kiladejo made this known during the inauguration of the physics and biology laboratory complex and the laboratory walkway at Ondo Anglican Grammar School, Ondo. The project was presented to the school by the members of the 1967-1971 set of the school.
The monarch, who is a product of the school and member of the set, praised his colleagues for their magnanimity adding that before they wade in, the state of infrastructural facilities of the school was shameful, but the accomplishment of the old students association has given the school a new look.
He said, “I want to thank all the old students for what they have done for the school. We want to encourage others to give back to their schools and help indigent students.
“We should also encourage the young ones to continue wherever we stop. It is by the grace of God that we are able to do this for our school.”
The monarch also hailed Governor Rotimi Akeredolu for his obligation to improve the level education and all his efforts to normalized education sector in the state.
Speaking at the event, the state Commissioner For Education Science and Technology, Femi Agagu, remarked that the present administration in the state has prioritized education through student sponsorship, regular promotion of teachers, and construction and renovation of infrastructure among others.
The Commissioner, represented by the Director Inspectorate/Quality Assurance Department, Olabamiji Ogundele, applaude the old students for looking back at their alma mater, requesting the school authority to judiciously exploit the laboratories
In his own words, the President of Ondo Grammar School Old Students Association, Johnson Akinsiku called on other sets of old students to also give back to the school.
“We want other sets, old students, go find a project to do for the school no matter how small. What we are doing here is not limited to out set alone,” Akinsiku stated
