The Vatican Priest, Pope Francis, has frowned at moves by German Bishops to establish a so-called permanent Synodal Council.
This was made known In a letter signed by the Vatican secretary of state, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the prefect of the Dicastery of the Doctrine of the Faith, Cardinal Luis Ladaria, and the prefect of the Dicastery of Bishops, Cardinal Marc Ouellet.
According to EWTN Vatican, the pope stated that the formation of permanent Synodal Council would undermine the authority of the bishops and the work of the rightful German episcopal conference as well as contradict canon law.
Records have it that in the summer of 2019, even before the Synodal Way in Germany began, the pope had sent a “LETTER TO THE PILGRIM PEOPLE OF GOD IN GERMANY” expressing what he perceived by synodality, which called for series of corrections and interventions.
The holy father has written severally, criticizing the Synodal way in Germany, adding that the ideology will pursue the holy spirit from the church.
He said, “Here the danger is that something very, very ideological trickles in. When ideology gets involved in church processes, the Holy Spirit goes home, because ideology overcomes the Holy Spirit”.
