Ganduje appoints Olubadan Kano varsity chancellor
The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun, has been appointed as the chancellor of the state-owned Saadatu Abubakar Rimi University of Education, Kumbusu, Kano by the State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
The letter which stated that the appointment of the monarch took effect from March 15, 2023, was delivered at his Alarere, Ibadan palace on Thursday.
According to the Nation, the Seriki Yoruba of Kano, Muritala Otiseese, stated that the appointment was a compensation for Oba Balogun’s cordial relationship with the people of Kano, as evident in his friendship with a former Kano governor, Abubakar Rimi and politicians of his time.
The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Garba Mohammed and another commissioner were part of the delegation that accompany Otiseese to Olubadan’s palace.
Otiseese stressed that under Ganduje, non-indigenes mantained such rapport with their host, noting that the governor extended privileges to non-indigenes.
The monarch, who was represented by High Chief Lateef Adebimpe, accepted the appointment and praised the governor for giving him such privilege stating that would further enhance cordial relationship between the two commercial cities.
