Buhari must ensure smooth transition – Primate Olabayo
The founder of the Evangelical Church of Yahweh Worldwide, Primate Theophilus Olabayo has called on the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) to ensure a seamless swearing-in of the president-elect come May 29.
According to Daily Post, the cleric who warned against post-election violence made this call while speaking with journalists on Tuesday.
Olabayo alleged that some “prayer contractors” are joining forces with politicians to create commotion across the country.
“Some people are planning to create chaos. They do not want a transition of power to Asiwaju and that is why they are trying to form an interim government,” he said.
The cleric assured there will be no war even as he cautioned against hate speeches, urging politicians as well as supporters to be mindful of their utterances.
Olabayo stated his vision about “political assassination amongst the politicians”, warning of “grave consequences” if they don’t douse tension.
The church leader urged President Muhammadu Buhari to leave no stone unturned to ensure a smooth transition on May 29.
“There was a peaceful transition of power from President Goodluck Jonathan to him. He should also ensure a peaceful transition of power to the president-elect.
“The incoming government should restructure this country to some extent so that the nation will experience economic growth and social stability in the near future,” he added.
