Anambra cleric urges Christians to fear God
The Vicar of The Pentecost, Anglican Communion, Diocese of Awka, Anambra State, Venerable Ekene Nwafor, has urged Christians to have the fear of God so that their purpose on earth would not be defeated.
The Anglican cleric noted that the only way to see the goodness of God is to live a holy life, a life devoid of sin.
According to Vangaurd, during his sermon on Sunday in Awka, Nwafor preached on the topic, “Christians Living Hope ”, he drew his lesson from 1st Peter 1 verses 3 to 4, “blessed be God our Lord Jesus who through mercy gave us a lively hope by the resurrection of Christ.
“In verse 4, Christ has offered an inheritance incorruptible, undefiled and that fadeth not away reserved in Heaven,” he said.
He noted that Christians can live a life devoid of sin through His grace and faith unto salvation that would give victory over temptation.
Nwafor explained that the carnal mind is enmity against God, for “it is not subject to the law of God so those in flesh cannot please God.”
He stated that you can not claim to be a Christian and still engage in immoralities, urging the faithful to aspire to live a godly life so that in the last day, they could be counted among the heavenly kingdom.
While quoting copiously from the Bible, the cleric said, “Be warned that even if you do a lot of service in the household of God, it is of no value to such a believer.
In the Holy Bible, Romans 8, verse 8, said they that are in flesh cannot please God.”
The Vicar called on Christians to seek God’s grace to live according to His will and enjoy God’s favour to live a godly life.
“The three fold of the Holy spirit which is to reprove the world of sin, righteousness and judgment, would make great meaning to them that fear God,” he said.
Assuring that if Christians walk in the spirit and do not fulfil the lust of the flesh, they will be true Christians who strive by help of Holy spirit to live right, he referred to the book of Galatians 5:16.
