A Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, said that the president, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Ret’d.), may have done his best, but it is not good enough.
The cleric said this while speaking on Channels TV on Wednesday night, stating that, if you do an exam and the examiner scores you differently, it cannot be denied that you have done your best even if you don’t score well, it’s just that your best was not good enough.
Bishop Kukah said, “You write an examination, the examiner scores you differently, you believe you’ve done your best, may be your best is not good enough.
“I can’t take away from the president that he’s got a job to do and he believes that he’s doing the best that he can and by the way, there’s nothing that I am saying that is not been said, even, louder.
“There are, of course, the president’s critics who believe that it is better for one to keep quiet for convenience…
“I’ve never manufactured facts in terms of the things that we are talking about.”
Meanwhile, earlier, Bishop Kukah was among other clerics who visited the President at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.
When asked about why he’s such a critic of the president and what they went to do at Abuja, he responded saying:
“…But to answer your question directly, the bishops went and I think when the media presents the clip of what the president of the conference said in the speech that he read, which has not come on the news.
“What we wanted to do was to see the president, encourage him, especially, we are particularly struck by his commitment to delivering free, fair and credible elections to Nigeria and to Nigerians.”
