The Senior Pastor of The Covenant Nation, Poju Oyemade, has encouraged youths who desire to change Nigeria to do more than collect their Permanent Voter Cards.
Oyemade noted that young Nigerians should also desire to become party delegates, stressing that they are the real democracy.
The clergyman said this during a Sunday service where he outlined the hierarchy in a democratic government as practised in Nigeria.
Religion Nigeria had reported that Oyemade was flayed by supporters of Peter Obi over a now-deleted controversial tweet, alleging that they and their principal were wasting their time with a structureless party.
However, in his Sunday comments, Oyemade said, “I use to say to young people, if you want to help in changing this country, become delegates in any party. You people didn’t listen to me. Now, you’ve seen that delegates are the real democracy.
He added, “One of the problems in Nigeria is that people who are trying to change Nigeria don’t understand Nigeria.
“There are three levels, delegate, volunteer, then PVC.”
