Join hands with Sanwo-Olu to build Lagos, Islamic cleric urges youths
National Amir of Ikhwan ul-Muslimin Foundation, Shaykh Abdul Awwal, has urged youths in Lagos to join hand with the Lagos State governor to build the state.
Shayhk Awwal called on youths to join hand with the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to build Lagos, urging them to avoid being used against the progress of the state.
Recall the Labour Party swept about 80 per cent of total votes cast in Lagos during the presidential election, this has subsequently posed threat to the chances of the incumbent governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s reelection bid.
Some even argued that it is time to have an indigene to lead Lagos, canvassing votes for the Labour Party governoship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour.
The Independent National Electoral Commission has postponed the Saturday March 11 governoship and state House of Assembly election to March 18.
The cleric, however, observed that re-electing Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to complement the victory of Asiwaju Tinubu will be the best bet for Lagosians noting that the state cannot afford to be in the opposition when Tinubu of the All Progressive Congress is at the centre.
He commended Sanwo-Olu for his good job adding, he has done well to earn a second term in the office, imploring the electorates to come out and massively vote for him.
According to the cleric,“The youth should join hands with Sanwo-Olu’s administration to build the state instead of being cajoled to unsettle the state.”
He also congratulated the president-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on his victory at the just concluded presidential election on February 25, urging him to foster peace and unity.
While banking on the experience of former Lagos State governor as prerequisites, Shaykh Awwal, noted that his public service record will help him a greater heights of development.
The cleric called on the former Senator to be fair, transparent, disciplined, prayerful and righteous in discharging his duties to Allah.
Acknowledging God for his emergence as the president-elect, the cleric said this is a test from Allah, advising that he should get closer to Allah and appoint God-fearing people to work with in his administration.
Awwal urged the opposition to desist from violence that can undermine the peace of the society but express their displeasures legally and peaceful.
